When Cheng’s parents moved to Brazil, they settled in São Paulo, amongst the city’s thriving Chinese community. There, Cheng lived for a great part of his life. He got married. And got bored. After a divorce and a fallout with his family, Cheng considered moving to China, but ended up in the much closer city of Rio de Janeiro.
